Datacenter Admin
This client was in need of a hardware asset management tool that would allow them to seamlessly monitor, maintain, upgrade and get reports on all of their hardware assets across all of their data centers.
01
The Problem
The absence of a modern and unified application for monitoring their data centers was hindering their ability to respond quickly to ongoing issues in the complex and ever-changing data center environment. With thousands of hardware components supporting rows of servers essential to their operations, each piece requires constant monitoring for health, updates, and potential failures. Additionally, there must be dynamic processes and alerts in place to address the various scenarios involved in maintaining this hardware.
02
The Users
This system is designed for highly experienced technical system administrators. The main users include system administrators and datacenter technicians, along with their management teams. They require access to comprehensive and technical information about the health of the entire system from a birds eye view down to its individual components.
03
The Solution
The primary objective of this interface was to design a structured dashboard for each data center, tailored to location and client, providing access to comprehensive performance and system health data for the system's components. Following brand guidelines and a rigorous design system, I created a clear and organized platform that showcases data center-specific metrics in a dashboard format for a quick assessment of system health. Important alerts and warnings were emphasized to help technicians pinpoint issues, enabling them to explore further and implement necessary software updates directly through the platform.

The Impact
The primary outcome of this project was enhanced productivity and minimized downtime. The previous legacy system was fragmented across various tools and teams, leading to slow communication and delayed responses. By consolidating the systems, the users could make swift decisions and updates, significantly decreasing the time spent on troubleshooting and allowing for a more proactive approach to system issues.
