Electric Vehicle Engagement App
Aimed at users that are thinking about electric vehicles but have the common fear of EV range and how it will impact their daily driving habits. This app combines general electric vehicle education, vehicle suggestions, and both a route planning tool and a social aspect to keep the tool relevant and useful after the user adopts the EV lifestyle.
01
The Problem
Electric cars undoubtedly represent the future, yet many individuals are hesitant to embrace it. They prefer the familiarity of their gas vehicles, which they view as reliable and predictable for reaching their destinations. Concerns arise about how electric vehicles will fit into the lives of those uncomfortable with the idea of running low on battery power, especially when they can't simply refuel in minutes at a nearby gas station. This fear of limited range often leads to dismissing electric vehicles for situations that don't match their everyday usage.
02
The Users
The target audience consists of individuals who find the concept of electric vehicles appealing but are reluctant to make the switch. They often worry about the perceived limited range and believe it may complicate their daily routines. These users require a reliable source of information and a platform to connect to, enabling them to enhance their experience with tools like route planning, range estimations, vehicle information and comparisons, and other EV-specific resources.
03
The Solution
The app primarily aimed to subtly convey that the range of an electric vehicle (EV) is not a concern for the average buyer. It enables users to map out their typical daily routes while showcasing the vehicle's specific features that cater to their needs. Additionally, gathering information on whether users can charge at home or work helps alleviate any worries about range anxiety. By offering resources for users to research and identify EVs that fit their requirements, the app enhances their motivation to purchase electric vehicles and eases their concerns.

The Impact
This proof of concept was shared with users and underwent multiple feedback cycles as we refined the overall experience of the app. There was a clear interest in this type of app. However, advancing it beyond a proof of concept was not feasible during my time on the project.
